It is a sincere pleasure for me to welcome you to the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School’s website. As you wander through the site, keep the core ideas of creativity, innovation, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication in your mind. These themes guide our planning, our time with our students, and our reflections.
The NEMJDS truly broadens learning opportunities beyond traditional classroom walls. Our highly skilled faculty, innovative and experiential general and Jewish studies curriculum, and our supportive school culture allow our students to embark on a rigorous academic learning journey and grow into the best version of themselves. As our students develop into leaders, we emphasize and prioritize what it means to be a leader in one’s community. Through our values-based education, community partnerships, and experiential learning programs, our students engage with the community to develop an understanding of social justice.
We strive for our students to discover and develop their own strengths and passions through experiences, challenges, and encouragement, and we support their efforts with flexibility and small class sizes in an intimate and comfortable setting where each student’s strengths, weaknesses, and personality are well known.
As a community day school, we welcome diversity and emphasize inclusion. Our students live throughout the Birmingham area and come from different socio-economic and religious backgrounds. We are united by our shared goal of providing our children an excellent academic experience within a nurturing Jewish environment.
