This week, NEMJDS K-2 students are participating in the NEA’s (National Education Association) National Read Across America week. Read Across America Week is a reading initiative that began back in 1997. This is a week to celebrate all things literacy and reading, and to encourage children to read more. One component of this week is to celebrate famous children’s author, Dr. Seuss.
Our K-2 students are celebrating this wonderful week with themed dress-up days, special snacks, and fun math and literacy (reading, writing, drawing) activities. Parents are joining in on the fun too by coming to school to read a Dr. Seuss book (and other stories), recording themselves reading a book, and sending in special snacks. We are so grateful for all of our amazing parent volunteers!
