One of the biggest challenges in a Jewish Day School is finding enough time for each subject. Expecting the students to learn about the Torah, then learn to read the text and decode AND understand it is a tall order. But it’s important. For out sixth graders, the answer includes borrowing from the “Flipped Classroom” concept. Having the students learn the material at home from a video of Rabbi Friedman teaching the class and then bringing that knowledge to class the next day can be equal doubling our class time. With the major Jewish holidays behind us, we can begin to use this concept for our text-based learning. We are very excited about it in the 6th grade!
