Parent-Teacher Association

Dear NEMJDS Parents,

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! We look forward to another successful and productive year and hope that, with your help, our PTA will play a vital role in the success of our school.

We are very excited about being your co-presidents this year, and since our children are relatively new to the Day School, we look forward to learning more about how the PTA can support the school and how we can build our parent community. We have some exciting plans for families, parents, teachers and students, but we will need your help. Please consider volunteering – we need both your involvement and input!

How can you help? Annual PTA dues, which are $75 per family, help support PTA-sponsored programs like monthly birthday celebrations and teacher appreciation week. Dues are essential in helping the PTA meet its goals, so please submit your contribution to Pamela Cohen.

Thanks in advance for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at school!

Sincerely,
Jenifer Thornton and Rebecca White
PTA co-presidents

Studies show that parental involvement in a child's education is one of the most important factors in raising student self-esteem and academic achievement. Moreover, most experts agree that parental involvement should go beyond attendance at teacher conferences and back to school nights. We realize, however, that each of our families is unique – with its own priorities, needs, talents, and time constraints -- and so our goal is t to try to provide as many different kinds of opportunities for parental involvement as possible.

Please review the volunteer opportunities suggested below, and check any you are interested in or tell us what you would like to do!! (Note: please click here if you'd prefer a printable form, and please return it to the school office!)

You will be contacted concerning the programs you are interested in by either one of the co-presidents, PTA teacher representative, school administrator or chairperson closer to the date of the program or event.
