We have just completed our first month of Kindergarten and already we have become scientists! A highlight this month has been our science unit on the life cycle of a plant. We learned that a plant needs water and nutrients from the soil to survive. We experimented with stalks of celery in heavily dyed water to show how water travels to the stem. Our students were amazed when after a day, the colored water moved up the stalk, coloring the outside leaves. Everyone noticed that the colored leaves became more vivid as time went on! We have moved on to growing our own plants and they are thriving!
