We have been working very hard in first grade. We have learned all the short vowel sounds and long vowel sounds! We can say where a sound is in a word (phonemic awareness). We are working on personal responsibility and our “because” sentences. I will say “I will be ______ BECAUSE” and they will respond with why. Our “because” sentence this week was “I will be kind BECAUSE everyone deserves to be treated with kindness.” All of the kids memorized this and it was awesome! We made a magnetic maze with paperclips and a marble maze with playdoh in our STEM classes. We also started our “Shoe Tying Bootcamp” and the kids are very determined to learn this life skill! We are off to a great year.
