To Prospective Parents

Thank you for your interest in the N. E. Miles Jewish Day School.

Choosing an educational path for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent, and our program is unlike any other in Birmingham. Filled with experiential learning, community engagement, and innovative projects, our days are rooted in Jewish values and traditions. We encourage you to arrange a tour of our beautiful facility, see our classrooms in action, and feel the warm community of the NEMJDS.

Our faculty and staff know our students and understand who they are as learners and individuals. As a school community, we collaborate to ensure that our students are not only gaining premier academic skills but also developing into strong leaders with a firm sense of self. At the NEMJDS, our students feel comfortable to take academic risks and try new things, and each day is new and exciting! From engineering with toothpicks and Legos to public speaking about the importance of kindness and philanthropy, our students are constantly collaborating and developing the skills necessary to be engaged citizens and leaders. Each year new programs and projects are introduced to enhance our curriculum and cater to our students’ individuality and interests.

We invite you to experience this sense of community and energy around learning for yourself and schedule a tour with our Director of Advancement, Rebekah Weinberger, at rweinberger@nemjds.org.

We hope that through our website, we convey a taste of the passion, values, creativity and academic rigor that make our school unique. We realize that so much of your child’s future depends on choices you make today. That’s why selecting a school is one of the most critical decisions you will make. As a community day school, NEMJDS families are diverse in beliefs, affiliations and observances. At the same time, N. E. Miles Jewish Day School is a community of unity.

At the N. E. Miles Jewish Day School, we deliver an outstanding secular and Jewish education to children from K-8th grade. We foster intellectual curiosity and emotional maturity, and we challenge all of our students to reach their fullest potential. Our dual curriculum educates the whole child – academically, socially and morally. Our graduates leave NEMJDS as critical thinkers who possess essential tools for success in life, and go on to become exemplary global citizens with strong Jewish identity for the 21st century. They shine as responsible, involved members of their communities and make great contributions to society. Throughout their lives, they maintain the close-knit friendships and relationships they originally forged at NEMJDS.

Families are encouraged to arrange appointments for a virtual tour. You will see first-hand how a NEMJDS education will instill goodness and inspire greatness in your child.  Our goal is to make the admission process as smooth and friendly as possible. If you have any questions or would like any assistance, please do not hesitate to call us. We look forward to sharing our special school with you and your family.

Sincerely,

Rebekah Weinberger
